Eight home dates highlight the spring schedule
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - Looking to improve upon their third-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference and No. 74 ranking in last year's final rankings, the Louisiana men's tennis team announced their spring 2024 schedule on Tuesday, November 21.
The schedule features eight home dates as well as non-conference road trips to South Florida, Georgia, Baton Rouge, and New Mexico.
The Cajuns open the season on the sunny shores of Boca Raton with former SBC foe Florida Atlantic on January 19. They'll flip coasts and take on Florida Gulf Coast the next day to wrap up the opening weekend.
They'll then head to LSU for a mid-week contest on January 24 before taking off for Athens, Georgia for the first rounds of the ITA Indoor Championships. In Athens, the Cajuns will square off with host school Georgia, who finished last spring ranked No. 7 in the country and claimed the 2023 SEC title. The team will advance to face either Auburn or Texas A&M the next day.
After that, the Cajuns are back in Acadiana on February 2-3 for the Louisiana Winter Classic, with match-ups to be announced at a later date. They'll then head west to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a pair of matches. On February 9 the Cajuns take on New Mexico before facing the defending Pac-12 regular season champions in Utah on February 10.
Starting February 16, the Cajuns once again head to Corpus Christi, Texas for the H-E-B Tournament of Champions. Last season the Cajuns reached the finals after winning the event in 2021.
Action returns to Cajun Courts on March 1 as the Cajuns face Charlotte in the first of three-straight home matches. They'll follow that with their SBC opener at home against Coastal Carolina on March 7 before wrapping up non-conference play on March 9 against South Florida at home.
The Cajuns hit the road for back-to-back weeks for SBC action. They start things off on March 23 at Troy before taking on South Alabama on March 24. The following week they face James Madison on March 30 and Old Dominion on March 31 to wrap up the road schedule.
The remaining three matches are all at home. On April 6, the Cajuns welcome Southern Miss in their lone match that week. The team finishes the regular season with home dates with Georgia State, on April 13, and Georgia Southern, on April 14, before heading to the SBC Championships beginning on April 18.
