Junior Carla Urchoeguia reached the main draw of the event
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The Louisiana women's tennis team closed the ITA South Regional in Baton Rouge with a total of seven victories, with all three competing players earning wins. Carla Urchoeguia led the way with four, continuing a strong start to the fall for the junior.
Urchoeguia started off the week by reeling off three straight wins to advance out of qualifying and into the main draw. Her run was ended in the round of 64 by Kaitlyn Carnicella of Auburn in straight sets. She closed the weekend with a victory over Ansley Chesire from Alabama, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.
Cristine Tchanichev earned a pair of wins after falling in the qualifying round. In the consolation round, she picked up a straight-set win over Tristanne Dechoux from New Orleans. She followed that by cruising by Manal Ennaciri of South Alabama, 6-2, 6-1. Jenaila Prulla also earned a win on the weekend by knocking off Yana Dhamija from Alabama A&M, 6-0, 6-2.
The Cajuns are off until October 28 when they begin the Lady Eagle Invite in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
