Akron transfer ranked in top-3 in SBC in both long and triple jump

NEW ORLEANS – After posting the second-best mark in the Sun Belt Conference in the women's triple jump at last week's Vanderbilt Invitational, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns athlete Jacqueline Pokuaah earned the league's Women's Field Athlete of the Week in a release on Wednesday.

Pokuaah, a senior from Kumasi, Ghana, cleared 41 feet, 10 ½ inches in the triple jump to finish sixth overall for Louisiana and post the best mark behind ULM's Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi (42-0 ½) among SBC athletes.

Pokuaah, ranked third in the SBC in the women's long jump (19-8¼) transferred to Louisiana after finishing as a two-time MAC champion in 2022 at Akron, claiming both the long and triple jump titles before qualifying in both events to the NCAA East Preliminary.

Louisiana will compete in a pair of events beginning on Friday, sending athletes to both the Houston Invitational and McNeese College Indoor.
