Final round set for 8 a.m. on Tuesday

CHOUDRANT Matt Weber and Jake Marler each recorded a round of even-par 72 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team finished the day in 12th place after the second round of the 2022 Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Monday at Squire Creek Country Club.
 
The final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start on Tuesday. Louisiana, which is at 1-over-par 577 as a team, will be paired with SMU, South Alabama and Troy in the final round of the 23-team field. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.
 
Weber posted his second straight round of par or better in the event and is tied for 27th place in the 124-man field at 2-under-142. The sophomore finished the back nine at 2-over-38 before making the turn and recording birdies on his final three holes for Louisiana.
 
Marler carded an even-par 72 for the second straight day for Louisiana, capping off his day with three birdies over his final six holes to finish tied for 51st at 144. Burke Alford, competing as an individual, posted an identical round of 72 – highlighted by his second eagle in as many days – with freshman Malan Potgieter shooting a 1-over-par 73 to finish one stroke back at 145.
 
Eli Ortego recorded a round of 2-over 74 to finish at 146 after 36 holes while Charlie Flynn recorded a 74 for the second consecutive round to finish at 148.
 
Southern Miss recorded a team score of 12-under-276 to leapfrog up the team leaderboard to finish at 554 after two rounds and hold a four-shot lead over LSU (558). Middle Tennessee (561), first-day leader ULM (563) and host Louisiana Tech (564) followed in the team standings.
 
Southern Miss' Thongpipat Rattanayanon recorded a round of 6-under-66 to tie Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier for the second round lead at 9-under-135. First-day leader Garrett Barber of shot a 1-under-71 to finish one stroke back heading into the final round.
