Men's Tennis Dealt First Sun Belt Setback on Saturday in Mobile

South Alabama claims match from Louisiana four points in, remains unbeaten at home
MOBILE, Ala. - The No. 48-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team fell prey to South Alabama's home court advantage experiencing the same result as eight previous visitors when the host-Jaguars posted a 5-2 win on Saturday, April 2 at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts in Mobile.
The defeat marked the first in Sun Belt Conference play in the spring 2022 dual match season for Louisiana (17-3, 4-1 Sun Belt). South Alabama (13-6, 3-1 Sun Belt) remained unbeaten at home, improving to 9-0 on its home court.
The Jaguars path to victory was quick and simple: they claimed the doubles point with wins on Court 1 and Court 2 and then opened singles play with three consecutive successful finishes for a strong 4-0 start to the match.
Vasil Dimitrov and Calin Postea got the Ragin' Cajuns on the board by posting wins in the tiebreaker of identical 7-6 decisions in the third set on Court 6 and Court 4, respectively.
Dimitrov extended his winning streak to three games, took over the team lead with 15 dual match season wins, and improved to 9-2 playing at No. 6 singles. Postea improved to 13-4, overall, in his collegiate debut dual match season, moving to 4-2 when playing at No. 4 singles.
