Louisiana Faces UT Arlington in Sun Belt Tournament Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. – A trip to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game is on the line for Louisiana, who will take on UT Arlington in the semifinal round on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff from the Pensacola Bay Center is slated for 2 p.m.

The team is making its seventh appearance in the semifinal round under head coach Garry Brodhead. With a win, the Ragin' Cajuns will face the winner of the (1) Troy and (5) Little Rock semifinal.

Louisiana (18-6, 9-4 Sun Belt) was dominant in the quarterfinal round, defeating Texas State 71-46. The team shot 55 percent (29-for-53) from the floor, aided by a 19-point outing from Makayia Hallmon and an 18-point performance from Lanay Wheaton.

Hallmon currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game, while Ty'Reona Doucet (11.5 ppg) and Wheaton (10.9 ppg) are also averaging in double figures.

UT Arlington (18-7, 11-4 Sun Belt) won its quarterfinal matchup against Georgia Southern, winning the contest 85-76. Junior Starr Jacobs scored 28 points on the night, while senior Terryn Milton scored 15 points with five rebounds and four assists.
