Louisiana Drops Tough Sun Belt Opener to South Alabama, 4-1

Carla Urchoeguia secures lone point for Ragin' Cajuns in league opener
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis faced a tough challenge in their Sun Belt Conference opener, falling at home to South Alabama, 4-1, on a windy Saturday morning.
Carla Urchoeguia was a bright spot for the Cajuns, winning her single match, 6-4, 6-3, over South Alabama's Luminita Tutunaru on Court 3 to secure Louisiana's lone point of the match.
South Alabama got out to a quick start, securing the doubles point with a 6-1 win on Court 1 and a 6-2 win on Court 2.
It was battle throughout singles play, but the Jaguars were able to find the wins they needed to clinch the match.
Tanisha Kashyap was leading her singles match 7-5, 4-3, before it went unfinished, while Momoko Yoshimura was in a 6-3, 5-6 battle.
Louisiana returns to action on Sunday when it takes on Troy. First serve at Cajun Courts is set for 10 a.m.
