LAFAYETTE – Louisiana will begin its final road swing of the regular season on Thursday night in San Marcos when it takes on Texas State. Tipoff from Strahan Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
Winners of the last four meetings between the two programs, the Ragin' Cajuns are looking to improve their road record this season to 5-2 after dropping two of their last three games away from home.
In its last outing, Louisiana (13-5, 5-3 Sun Belt) used a complete performance on both ends of the court to run past Arkansas State, 68-57. Senior Ty'Reona Doucet once again made a big impact, recording her sixth-straight double-double and her eighth of the season with a game-high 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Tamera Johnson (12), Makayia Hallmon (11) and Lanay Wheaton (10) joined Doucet in double figures while combining for 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
That foursome has been key to the success of the offense this year, which currently leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks 18th in the NCAA in field goal percentage (45.6).
Texas State (10-11, 6-4) is riding a three-game winning streak and most recently defeated Coastal Carolina at home, 64-59. Jo'Nah Johnson led the Bobcats with a game-high 15 points in the win.
Preseason First Team All-Conference selection Da'Nasia Hood has continued to lead her team, averaging a team-high 16.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.
Louisiana and Texas State will be meeting for the 26th time, with the Ragin' Cajuns owning a 14-11 advantage in the all-time series.
