Louisiana Grabs First Win of Season Over Alcorn State

Strong doubles showing sets tone for Ragin’ Cajuns
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis picked up its first victory of the 2022 spring campaign after cruising past Alcorn State, 6-1, on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
The Ragin' Cajuns got things going quickly, using a pair of 6-1 doubles victories to claim the early 1-0 lead. Catarina Zheng and Angel Santiago then secured the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win on Court 2.
After going ahead 2-0 as a result of an Alcorn State forfeit on Court 6, Tanisha Kashyap (6-0, 6-0) and Momoko Yoshimura (6-3, 6-1) made quick work of their opponents to secure the win.
Zheng extended the team lead to 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win on Court 3 over Kimberley Kaome before Lucie Raquin picked up the final victory of the day for Louisiana, a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 decision on Court 1 to seal the 6-1 victory.
Louisiana returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 6, when it hosts Stephen F. Austin. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
