Louisiana scheduled for two-day stay at Rice's George R. Brown Tennis Center

HOUSTON - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team puts its two-match winning streak to the test from Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 5-6 with a pair of matches in Houston at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on the campus of Rice University.

First up is a neutral-court battle with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday (Feb. 5) at 12 p.m., followed by a meeting with the host team, Rice, at the same time on Sunday (Feb. 6).

The matches with the Islanders and Owls begins a series of road outings that keeps Louisiana on the road throughout the month of February, not returning to Cajun Courts until March 5.

Louisiana is off to a 3-1 start in its debut season with first-year head coach Luc Godin. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of a sweep of their first homestand of the young season, posting a 6-1 win over Tyler JC and a 4-0 sweep of Xavier (La.) at Cajun Courts from Jan. 28-29.

The Ragin' Cajuns went unblemished in singles action during last weekend's homestand, improving to 14-7 as a group. Vasil Dimitrov (3-1), Kacper Dworak (3-1) and Calin Postea (2-1) each extended their personal win streak to two games. Dimitrov and Dworak lead the team with three singles wins apiece.

In doubles play, Louisiana sports an 8-4 mark as a team. A week ago, the tandem of Dworak and Postea dominated the opposition at No. 3 doubles with back-to-back 6-0 triumphs.

A&M-Corpus Christi is 25-8 in singles and 12-4 in doubles this year as a team. The squad is off to a 5-1 start in dual match play, led by senior Kyohei Yamanaka and sophomore Guillermo Castaneda with four singles wins apiece.

The Ragin' Cajuns and Islanders are meeting for the 14th straight season, a regular series which began back in 2009. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs on a neutral court.

Rice improved to 4-1 last Saturday with identical 7-0 wins over UTRGV and Trinity University. The Owls will be wrapping up a season-opening, six-match homestand when they meet the Ragin' Cajuns. Emir Sendogan and Trinity Grear, each 5-0 in singles, have paced the team's efforts thus far. Rice carries an overall four-match win streak into Sunday's matchup, and has lost only four singles games as a unit all season long.

The Ragin' Cajuns and Owls have split the last four meetings in a series that has seen yearly matchups since 2013. Rice holds a 13-6 edge all-time in matches when its hosted Louisiana.
