Big Weekend for Women’s Basketball Begins Thursday Against Georgia State

LAFAYETTE – A top-four seed in the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Tournament is on the line for Louisiana, which begins the final weekend of the regular season on Thursday night when it hosts Georgia State at the CAJUNDOME. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Entering the final game at the Dome this season, the Ragin' Cajuns are ranked fifth in the league standings with a 7-4 mark in league play.
Thursday's contest will also be a chance to celebrate the career accomplishments of Ty'Reona Doucet, Diamond Morrison and Brandi Williams during a pregame Senior Day celebration.
Doucet has been a key contributor all season, leading the way with 12.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She has produced 10 double-doubles this season, good for 44th nationally, and has moved her way up the career leaderboard in numerous categories, including fifth in all-time scoring.
Morrison is averaging 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 21 appearances this year, while Williams averaged 15.3 points in three games before missing the rest of the season with injury.
Georgia State (9-14, 3-8 Sun Belt) is coming off a 60-57 overtime victory at South Alabama that snapped a five-game losing streak. Mikyla Tolivert and Taniyah Worth each scored 13 points in the win.
Ashley Foster is the only Panther averaging in double figures this year, producing 11.1 points per contest. Foster also leads the team with 3.8 rebounds per game.
Louisiana and Georgia State will be meeting for the 15th time on Thursday, with the Cajuns leading the all-time series, 10-4. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, the team is 10-3 against the Panthers.
