Louisiana completes shutout of in-state foe
LAFAYETTE – A spirited effort saw Louisiana Women's Tennis bounce back into the win column after an exciting 7-0 defeat over Southern on Saturday afternoon.
The clean sweep was the first by the Ragin' Cajuns since a 4-0 win over Arkansas State on April 10, 2021.
Carla Urchoeguia and Momoko Yoshimura got the team off to a fast start with a 6-0 win in doubles on Court 1. Lucie Raquin and AK Harvey clinch the doubles point for Louisiana on Court 3, bagging a 6-4 victory.
Angel Santiago recorded a clean sweep in her singles match, taking down Southern's Nandi Munyulwa, 6-0, 6-0 on Court 5.
Raquin (6-2, 6-0), Urchoeguia (6-3, 6-1), Yoshimura (6-2, 6-1) and Harvey (6-0, 6-2) all won their singles matches in two sets, while Catarina Zheng dropped her first set in a tiebreaker before ultimately winning 6-7 (9-7), 6-2, 10-5.
Louisiana returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 13, when the team heads to Lake Charles to take on McNeese. First serve is slated for 8 a.m.
