Louisiana Completes Lone Star Sweep With 5-2 Win Over NMSU

Louisiana wins sixth straight match; will compete in H-E-B Tournament of Champions

LUBBOCK, Texas – Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez clinched a highly-contested doubles point to give the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team claimed four straight matches in singles play to claim its sixth consecutive victory with a 5-2 decision over New Mexico State on Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
 
Louisiana (7-1), which won its sixth consecutive match of the season, capped off a perfect weekend in the Lone Star State after posting a 4-1 win over Big 12 member Texas Tech on Friday. The Ragin' Cajuns claimed doubles victories on Courts 1 and 2 to take an early 1-0 lead before posting wins in singles play on Courts 2, 3, 5 and 6.
 
With each team claiming a victory in doubles play, the Kajin and Sanchez Gonzalez claimed a 6-3 win on Court 1 over NM State's Louis Menard and Jordy Visser.
 
Sanchez Gonzalez gave Louisiana a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Martin Simecek at Court 2. At Court 3, Orio Fillat Gimenez won his fifth straight match and improved to 6-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Corey Clarke before freshman Calin Postea clinched the match at No. 6 with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Gijs Akkermans.
 
Vasil Dimitrov gave Louisiana a 5-0 lead with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Visser before NM State (2-6) earned wins on Courts 1 and 4.
