Louisiana Relentless At The Plate In Fall Ball Sweep of Tulane

Ragin' Cajuns notch 12 of 28 hits with two outs in 5-3, 15-6 win

NEW ORLEANS – Julian Brock went a combined 4-for-6 with three RBI and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team pounded out 28 hits over 16 innings in defeating Tulane, 5-3 and 15-6, on Sunday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
 
Luke Yuhasz, Will Veillon and Carson Roccaforte each belted home runs in the night cap as Louisiana recorded 12 of its 28 hits with two outs in the inning. John Taylor was a combined 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Ragin' Cajuns while eight players recorded at least two hits in the contest.
 
Louisiana will return to fall practice beginning on Tuesday before wrapping up fall drills on Nov. 13 when it entertains LSU at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
 
GAME 1 – Louisiana 5, Tulane 3
Heath Hood's two-out single in the first inning scored Max Marusak for an early 1-0 lead before Brock drove in Kyle DeBarge with an RBI double in the third before scoring on Roccaforte's sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning after CJ Willis led off with a single, stole second and scorerd on Peyton LeJeune's RBI single up the middle.
 
Louisiana added an insurance run in the ninth after Roccaforte posted his first hit of the day with a double to center and scored on Brock's single to right.
 
Jake Hammond, Blake Marshall and Dylan Theut each recorded a pair of strikeouts on the mound for Louisiana.
 
GAME 2 – Louisiana 15, Tulane 6 (7 innings)
Louisiana collected 19 hits and scored at least one run in its final six innings and snapped a 6-6 tie in the fifth on back-to-back hits by Mason Zambo and Yuhasz. Tulane took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning before Caleb Stelly's infield grounder in the second knotted the contest at 1-1.
 
DeBarge and Brock hit RBI singles in the third to give Louisiana a 3-1 lead and the Ragin' Cajuns took a 6-2 lead on an RBI single by Ben Robichaux and a two-run triple by DeBarge.
 
Tulane rallied to tie the game in the fourth inning after scoring four times before Louisiana responded with a pair of runs in the fifth.
 
Stelly would reach on a two-out double for the Ragin' Cajuns and scored with Zambo doubled off the wall in right-center for a 7-6 lead. Yuhasz, who went 2-for-4 in the nightcap, then singled to right to drive in Zambo as Louisiana recorded all three hits in the fame with two outs.
 
Roccaforte increased Louisiana's lead to 9-6 in the sixth with a sacrifice fly before the Ragin' Cajuns put the game away in the seventh.
 
Louisiana posted four straight hits with one out in the inning beginning with Stelly's single before Zambo drove him in with a double. Yuhasz then belted the next pitch over the left-field wall for a 12-6 lead and Taylor followed with a double.
 
Veillon slammed a two-run, pinch-hit homer to drive in Taylor before Roccaforte followed with a towering blast to right.
 
David Christie pitched 1.1 innings of hitless relief with a pair of strikeouts for Louisiana with Tommy Ray, Peyton Havard and Taylor Parrett each fanning a pair of batters.
