Louisiana Opens Play at ITA Southern Regional

Yoshimura picks up three wins to lead Louisiana on opening day
BATON ROUGE – Momoko Yoshimura posted a pair of singles victories and teamed with Lucie Raquin to move to the quarterfinals in doubles to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team during the opening day of the ITA Southern Regionals at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Attendance for the ITA Southern Regional is free of charge for all fans. Matches begin at 9 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday before the start time changes to 10 a.m. on Sunday till the end of the tournament on Tuesday. Live stats and video will not be available until Sunday.

Yoshimura opened the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Raluca Puscas of New Orleans in the opening round of singles qualifying before defeating Jacksonville State's Dariana Prato, 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 in the second round.

The junior later teamed with Raquin to earn an 8-7 (5) victory over Tristanne Dechoux and Ksenia Reznitskaya of UNO and move to Friday's quarterfinals against the JSU tandem of Prato and Zuzana Pavelekova.

Louisiana freshman Laure Line Monnoyer earned a split in singles' play picking up a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory over Troy's Valeriia Avdeeva before dropping a 7-6 (8), 6-1 decision to Alyssa Richter of Southern Miss.

Freshman Angelique Berrat competed in singles' play for Louisiana, falling to Troy's Olivia Elliot, 6-3, 6-4, in the opening round.
