Louisiana four shots out of second place heading into final 18 holes
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Jose Dibildox posted a 1-over-par 73 in the morning round before coming back with a 1-under 71 in the afternoon to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns during the opening day of the 2021 Lone Star Invitational on Monday at TPC San Antonio's Oaks Course.
Louisiana posted identical teams rounds of 8-over 296 to sit in a fourth-place tie with Texas State at 592. Host UTSA claimed the first-day lead with a 36-hole total of 3-over 573 with New Mexico State (588), Lamar (590), Louisiana and Texas State rounding out the top five.
Dibildox, a 2021 NJCAA All-American, finished in a tie for fifth place at even-par 144 in his Ragin' Cajuns debut. Dibildox finished the first 36 holes two strokes off the overall lead shared by the UTSA tandem of Michael Rome and Hunter Bott along with Paul Gonzalez of UT Arlington.
Freshman Eli Ortego posted rounds of 76 and 72 on the par-72, 7,435-yard course to finish in a tie for 12th place at 148 with Peter Hinnant bouncing back from a 5-over-par start over his first seven holes of the second round to finish with a 2-over 74 and 148 after 36 holes.
Justin Caldwell posted rounds of 75 and 79 to finish at 154 for Louisiana with Charlie Flynn posting rounds of 74 and 82.
The final round of the two-day event will take place on Tuesday with an 8 a.m., shotgun start. Louisiana will be paired with Texas State and UTA in the final round.
