Louisiana Travels to No. 2 Mississippi State For Midweek Matchup

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Baseball has a big opportunity ahead of it when it faces No. 2 Mississippi State on Wednesday, March 10, at Dudy Noble Field with first pitch at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday's game will be televised on SECN+.
Louisiana and Mississippi State have only squared off three times, with the Ragin' Cajuns leading the all-time series 2-1.
The two schools squared off in the Fall of 2019 in a doubleheader. Louisiana split the twin bill, beating the Bulldogs 7-3 in game one and falling 13-2 in game two.

Louisiana ended the 2020 season winning six of its last seven games and it carried into this season. Putting together last year's hot streak and this year's start, the Ragin' Cajuns have won 15 of their last 20 games, the best streak since 2017 when the Cajuns went 15-4-1 from March 25 to April 25.

In his first three appearances at Louisiana, Spencer Arrighetti has tossed 15.1 innings of one-run baseball. Arrighetti has earned two wins and picked up a save in his second appearance of the season against Rice, sealing a 5-3 win for the Cajuns. Arrighetti was the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week (March 2) and is now the Saturday starter for Louisiana.

On Tuesday night against Louisiana Tech (March 2), CJ Willis tied the program record for doubles in a single game with three. Willis is the first player since Kyle Clement (April 19, 2016 vs. Nicholls State) to record three doubles in the same game.
