Louisiana In Fourth In Men's Action at SBC Indoor

Foster sets school-record in women's 60-meters; Mixon in fifth in men's heptathlon
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Obdarius Ware and Cole Courtois each posted second-place finishes in their respective events and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team finished in fourth place on the men's side after the first day of the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Monday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Kiana Foster set a school-record in the preliminaries of the women's 60-meter dash for the second consecutive meet, clocking a time of 7.48 seconds to post the best overall time in the event and moving on to Tuesday's final.
The final day of the two-day event will begin at 9 a.m., on Tuesday with the women's pentathlon and the completion of the men's heptathlon. Field events will begin at noon with running events set for 2 p.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com with coverage on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m.
Louisiana scored 23 points on the men's side to finish the first day in fourth place with Taylor Davis accounting for the women's score (1.5) through the opening day after finishing tied for seventh-place in the women's high jump at 5-6 ½.
Ware recorded a mark of 24 feet, 1 inch to finish second overall in the men's long jump for Louisiana while teammate Golden Eke placed sixth overall at 23-6.
Courtois finished as the runner-up in the men's pole vault for Louisiana after clearing an indoor personal-best 17-3. Chandler Mixon earned an eighth-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns in the event after clearing 16-1 ¼ while the men's distance medley relay team of Rashid Reese, Timothy Cola, Solomon Brent and Caedmon Kyles finished sixth overall at 10:58.99.
Foster, who previously set the school record in the 60-meters two weeks ago on the same surface at the Jaguar Invitational, posted the best time in both preliminaries of the 60-meters and 200-meters after clocking a personal-best time of 24.30. Louisiana placed three runners in the women's 60-meter hurdle finals after Reagann Leleux (8.56) posted the second-fastest time in qualifying with Serenity Rogers (8.64) and Kennedy London (8.73) finishing sixth and seventh overall.
Ta'La Spates and Emoni Coleman each advanced to the finals of their respective events as Spates clocked a time of 56.53 in the 400-meters with Coleman posting a time of 2:18.13 in the 800-meters.
Trejun Jones led a trio of Ragin' Cajuns sprinters in the preliminaries of the men's 60-meter dash as his time of 6.79 was the second-fastest in the event. Jamhad Booth posted the fourth-fastest time (6.83) with Brock Appiah finishing fifth at 6.85. Yves Cherubin (8.09) and Tahj Whitfield (8.17) each qualified for the finals in the men's 60-meter hurdles for Louisiana while Appiah (21.67) and Nathan Fergusson (21.66) each moved on to the finals in the men's 200-meter dash.
Fergusson qualified for the finals in a second event after his time of 49.03 in the men's 400-meters was fifth overall. Tyrell Hargrove (1:54.72) and Reese (1:56.16) each qualified for the finals in the men's 800-meters for Louisiana.

Mixon broke the SBC Championship record in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.06 seconds before posting a mark of 21-11 ¾ in the long jump, 40-9 ½ in the shot put and 5-11 ¼ in the high jump. The men's heptathlon will be completed on Tuesday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.
