Ragin’ Cajuns Look to Bounce Back on Saturday Against Texas State

Louisiana looks to bounce back after falling to UTA in league opener
LAFAYETTE – After falling in heartbreaking fashion during its Sun Belt opener against UT Arlington, Louisiana is looking to bounce back when it welcomes Texas State to the CAJUNDOME on New Year's Day. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
Thursday's contest was highly competitive, with the Ragin' Cajuns storming back with a big fourth-quarter display before falling 62-60 to UTA.
Destiny Rice had a monster performance against the Lady Mavs, notching a career-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists, while Ty'Reona Doucet also had a big showing, recording her second double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Rice leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per contest, and assists, (36), while Doucet is second with 10.4 points per game and leads the way for the Cajuns with 6.3 boards per game.
Louisiana (8-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) continues to flex its defensive muscle, holding opponents to a 33.2 field goal shooting percentage, the best in the Sun Belt and the eighth best in the NCAA this year.
Texas State (6-7, 1-0 Sun Belt) is coming off a 68-60 victory over ULM in its Sun Belt Opener. The Bobcats are currently led in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg) by Da'Nasia Hood.
The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series, 13-11, and have won the last three meetings between the two programs, all of which came a season ago.
