Louisiana shoots 1-over 289 to move up one spot in final results
CHOUDRANT – Peter Hinnant posted his first career top-5 finish after shooting a 3-under par 69 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team posted a team score of 1-over 289 to move up one spot into ninth place during the final day of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club.

Redshirt freshman Matt Weber carded an even-par 72 while Bjorn Gudjonsson recorded a 1-over 73 as Louisiana finished the 54-hole tournament at 884 and one stroke better than Western Kentucky. Cole Kendrick recorded a 3-over 75 to post his best round of the tournament for the Ragin' Cajuns with true freshman Jake Marler posting a 4-over 76.

Hinnant, who posted his second career top-10 finish and first since a ninth-place finish at the 2018 David Toms Intercollegiate, opened play on the No. 10 tee and made the turn at 1-under 35 after recording a birdie on the par-5, 561-yard No. 17.

The junior, who finished with his second-best 54-hole score at 3-under 213, added back-to-back birdies at No. 1 and 2 and overcame a bogey on No. 4 with a birdie at the par-5, 546-yard No. 9.

Weber, playing in the No. 1 spot in his Ragin' Cajuns debut, posted a 1-under 35 on the back nine before answering consecutive bogeys at No. 7 and 8 with a birdie at No. 9. The Lafayette native finished in a tie for 30th place at 6-over 222.

Marler (75-74-76-225) finished in a tie for 45th in his Ragin' Cajuns debut with Gudjonsson (79-73-73-225) and Kendrick (83-77-75-235) following.

No. 44-ranked UAB, paced by individual champion Nick Robillard, maintained its lead to claim the team title after shooting a 4-under 284 for the day. The Blazers finished at 843 – 14 strokes better than second-place South Alabama (857) with Texas State (859), host Louisiana Tech (860) and ULM (862) rounding out the top five.

Robillard shot an even-par 72 to finish at 9-under 207 for the tournament and claim a four-stroke victory over ULM's Andoni Etchenique.

Louisiana will return to action on Sept. 29-30 when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in UAB's Graeme McDowell Invitational which will be played on the Founder's Course at Greystone Country Club.
