Men’s Tennis Earns No. 3 Spot in Mid-Major Recruiting Rankings

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Men's Tennis has produced the No. 3 recruiting class in the mid-major recruiting rankings according to the Tennis Recruiting Network, the website announced on Friday.
Louisiana is the only school to place in the top 5 mid-major recruiting rankings over the last two years and one of two schools to appear on the list in the last three years. Additionally, the Ragin' Cajuns are the only school from the Sun Belt on the list.
Head Coach Mark Jeffrey and Associate Head Coach Luc Godin will bring in a new crop of players, featuring Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez, Oriol Fillat Gimenez, Alejo Ferrer Chueca, Grant Landreth and Stefan Milenkovic.
Sanchez Gonzalez and Fillat Gimenez both have ATP rankings points, making Louisiana the only school in the rankings with more than one such player.
"This is a special group of guys not only just on the court but in life as well," Jeffrey said. "If I had to rank these guys according to character, they would be very high as well."
Louisiana will look to follow up a successful start of the 2020 season with the new players.
"I am excited for our players, coaches, and University for the upcoming season," Jeffrey said. "I know the guys will leave everything out on the court. Louisiana Men's Tennis is in good hands. In 2019, we had the No. 5 mid-major recruiting class and 2020 we are number No. 3, back-to-back great classes."
