LAFAYETTE – There are many unique challenges that incoming freshman student-athletes face when starting college.

In this Q&A feature article, you will "Get to Kneaux" Ragin' Cajuns freshman Alexandria Goodly. The Lake Charles, La., native appeared in 25 games during her rookie season, 2.2 points and 0.9 rebounds. Her debut season was highlighted by a 10-point performance against Xavier (La.).

What were your expectations prior to attending UL as a WBB player? Have they changed since your experience this season?
AG: "I wasn't really expecting much, but everything was fairly new. I didn't really know what to expect."

As an incoming freshman, how has this season positively impacted your first college experience?
AG: "I learned a lot. I was able to learn the game more and also learned how everything works in college."

What was one of your favorite experiences this season?
AG: "Going to Cuba! While in Cuba, we got to play basketball, swim, relax and bond as a team."

If there was one person you idolized the most on your team this past season who was it and why?
AG: "Kendall Bess. When I came in as a freshman, she took me in under her wing. She helped me with a lot of things, personally and basketball wise. She taught me the ways around certain things. It was rewarding to see the difference of a freshman and that of a graduating senior. It really shows."

What are some ways you were able to balance class work and basketball? Was it a fairly easy transition from high school?
AG: "I think it was an easy transition for me. I've never had problems with basketball and school conflicting with each other. Some people might say something different, but for me, it was fairly easy."
