Louisiana Travels to Pensacola, Fla. for Cox Diamond Invitational

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Baseball team will hit the road and travel to Pensacola, Fla., for the Cox Diamond Invitational. The Ragin' Cajuns will play Samford on Friday at 2 p.m., Michigan State on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Troy on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Friday's game will mark the third time Louisiana (5-8) and Samford (10-1) have met with the series tied at 1-1. The last time the two programs faced off was in a doubleheader in 1988.Â
Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the Ragin' Cajuns and Spartans (8-4). Louisiana has played seven of the 13 schools in the BIG10 in baseball, including a three-game series against Maryland last season. Louisiana took two of three games from the Terrapins in that weekend series.Â
On Sunday, the Ragin' Cajuns will battle a familiar foe in Troy (8-5), the 54th meeting between the two conferences opponents with Louisiana claiming a series 33-20 series lead. This will be the only matchup between the two schools this year as they will not face off in league play.Â
The Ragin' Cajuns are riding a three-game win streak after beating Rice, 11-2 on Tuesday night in Houston. Carter Robinson earned his first win of the year after throwing six innings and fanning seven batters, while Brennan Breaux led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.Â

Friday: RHP Conor Angel vs. LHP Samuel Strickland (Samford)
Saturday: RHP Brandon Young vs. LHP Jarret Olson (MSU)
Sunday: RHP Will Moriarty vs. RHP Tyson Ellis (Troy)
It will be the usual suspects on the mound for the Ragin' Cajuns. All three are coming off solid performances, highlighted by a Brandon Young complete game shutout in his last outing against Sam Houston State.Â
