Louisiana Baseball Hosts Sam Houston State for Weekend Series

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Baseball team will play host to Sam Houston State for a three-game series this weekend, with first pitch times scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m, Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. (Feb. 28-March 1).
Louisiana comes into the weekend at 2-7 and the Bearkats arrive with a 5-2 record. Despite Sam Houston State winning the last four games in this matchup, the Ragin' Cajuns own the all-time series record at 16-7.
The Ragin' Cajuns will try a new pitching rotation this weekend with the three starters being RHP Conor Angel, RHP Brandon Young, and RHP Will Moriarty. Young currently has the fourth-most strikeouts in the Sun Belt Conference with 16, and is tied for the most looking Ks in the conference with seven.
Starting for the Bearkats will be RHP Tyler Davis, LHP Dominic Robinson, and RHP Caleb Cannon. Davis and Robinson have been masterful this season, both posting a sub-1.75 ERAs.
As for the Friday night game, Angel (1-1) will duel against Davis (2-0). Angel has managed 14 strikeouts, one earned run and a 0.69 ERA through 13 IP.
Sam Houston State is coached by Jay Sirianni, who is in his first season as a head coach after replacing current Ragin' Cajuns head coach Matt Deggs.
