Men’s Tennis Keeps Winning, Improves to 10-2

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Tennis steamrolled its way through a Valentine's Day doubleheader to earn two more wins, improving their record to 10-2 on the year. The Ragin' Cajuns took down Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-0, and Northern Arizona, 4-0.
Match 1
Louisiana found no trouble against the Islanders as they took both doubles matches. First to win for the Ragin' Cajuns was Pierce Gilheany and Ivailo Keremedchiev who took down Pascal Lorieul and Thomas Rodrigues. Notching the doubles point for Louisiana was the team of Jan Galka and Kacper Dworak, beating Ryuya Ata and William Mottet by a final of 6-1.
In singles competition, Gilheany won his match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, giving Louisiana a 2-0 lead. For the third point, Karlo Kajin won 6-4, 6-4. Clinching the match for the Ragin' Cajuns was Galka, taking down Moffett 6-4, 7-5.
Match 2
Louisiana started the second match winning the doubles point to grab a 1-0 lead over Northern Arizona. Kajin and Jamie Fraser won 6-1 over Daniel Dillon and Joachim Schaefer. To get the doubles point and their second win of the day, Galka and Dworak teamed up to take down NAU's Eban Straker-Meads and Facundo Tumosa.
The Ragin' Cajuns carried the momentum into singles, winning three straight to seal another victory. Stefan Gazo took care of business by defeating Dillon by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Next to win and to earn a 3-0 lead was Fraser, who took down Chris Steele, 6-2, 6-0. To clinch the Louisiana win, Keremedchiev knocked off Tumosa, 6-3, 6-2.
Louisiana Men's Tennis will play their next match in Boise, Id. when they travel to face Boise State on Saturday, Feb. 22. The match start time has yet to be announced.
