Louisiana Finishes Play at ITA Regionals in Waco

WACO, Texas – Louisiana Men's Tennis concluded play at the ITA Regionals in Waco, Texas, going 10-12 in singles matches and 4-8 in doubles play. The highly competitive tournament featured power programs like Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech and TCU.
Kacper Dworak earned the most singles wins by a Ragin' Cajun in the tournament, taking three-straight singles matches before falling in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-4, to Payton Holden from Texas.
Fellow Cajuns Karlo Kajin, Alejo Ferrer Chueca, Oriol Fillat Gimenez, Ivailo Keremedchiev and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez all earned singles wins during the competition as well.
Sanchez Gonzalez had a noteworthy performance taking down Angel Diaz Jalil (UTA) who is ranked 110 nationally.
Dworak and Keremedchiev had an impressive opening fall tournament, earning a huge opening round doubles win against Reed Collier and Parker Wynn of Texas Tech, beating them, 8-6.
More impressively, the two Cajuns took No. 1 seeded Sven Lah and Charlie Broom of Baylor deep into the match but lost, 8-6. Lah ended the 2020 season ranked No. 11 in the doubles rankings last season.
