Two lowest team scores help Ragin' Cajuns post best 36-hole total since 2014

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Peter Hinnant and Hudson Dubinski each recorded rounds of an identical 3-under-par 69 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team posted its two lowest team rounds of the 2020-21 season during the opening day of the Little Rock Invitational on Monday at Chenal Country Club.
 
The final round of the 54-hole tournament is scheduled to begin on Tuesday with an 8 a.m., shotgun start. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.
 
Playing in its final event of the fall semester, Louisiana posted a 4-under 284 in the morning before coming back with a 5-under 283 in the afternoon to finish in fifth-place overall in the 14-team field at 9-under 567. The Ragin' Cajuns team score of 567 through two rounds equaled its best 36-hole total since the 2014 Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
 
Hinnant opened the day on the par-72, 7,115-yard course with a 3-under 69 before posting a 71 in the afternoon to finish in a tie for ninth-place at 4-under 140. Hunter Hammett carded a round of 2-under 70 for Louisiana in the opening round with Charlie Flynn (72) and Dubinski (73) counting for the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
In the afternoon, Dubinski fired a 3-under 69 to lead Louisiana to its lowest team round of the season while finishing in a tie for 18th place in the individual standings at 2-under 142. Hammett, who finished in a tie for 13th overall at 3-under 141, fired a 71 in the second round for the Ragin' Cajuns with Justin Caldwell carding an even-par 72.
 
Flynn (72-74-146) completed the first day in a tie for 34th place for Louisiana with Caldwell (77-72-149) and Bjorn Gudjonsson (77-75-152) rounding out the lineup.
 
Arkansas State posted rounds of 272 and 281 to finish at 553 after 36 holes and six strokes ahead of host Little Rock (559). UT Arlington (561), Abilene Christian (564) and Louisiana (567) rounded out the top five with Lamar (570), ULM (571), Louisiana Tech (573), Texas State (575) and Southern Miss (577) rounding out the top 10.
 
UTA's Zach Cole posted rounds of 68 and 67 to finish at 9-under 135 after two rounds and claim the first-day lead.
