LAFAYETTE – Featuring five of its first seven league games at the CAJUNDOME, Louisiana Women's Basketball and the Sun Belt Conference office released the 2020-21 women's basketball conference schedule on Thursday afternoon.
For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Ragin' Cajuns will open league play at home when it hosts the South Alabama Jaguars on New Year's Eve. Following the league opener, the team hosts Troy on Saturday, Jan. 2.
Louisiana then hits the road for the first time during Week Two of the conference slate when it travels to Appalachian State (Jan. 7) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 9).
Upon its return, the team welcomes in UTA (Jan. 14) and Texas State (Jan. 16) before its first bye date. In-state rival ULM comes to town on Saturday, Jan. 23, to wrap up the three-game homestand.
The month of January concludes at Arkansas State (Jan. 28) and at Little Rock (Jan. 30), the program's first trip to The Natural State since the 2018-19 campaign.
February tips off with Georgia State (Feb. 4) and Georgia Southern (Feb. 6) at home before a return trip to Texas to play at Texas State (Feb. 11) and at UTA (Feb. 13).
Following its second bye date, Louisiana heads north to face off with ULM before wrapping up conference play in Lafayette against Little Rock (Feb. 25) and Arkansas State (Feb. 27).
The Sun Belt Tournament will be played in Pensacola, Florida, this year. Game are scheduled for March 5-8 with First-Round and Second-Round games played simultaneously at the Pensacola Bay Center and Hartsell Arena on the campus of Pensacola State College.
The Ragin' Cajuns finished the 2019-20 season 19-12 season and finished fourth in the Sun Belt standings before hosting the first two rounds of the Sun Belt Tournament.
Louisiana's non-conference schedule, TV schedule and tip times will be released at a later date.
The CAJUNDOME will operate at a significantly reduced capacity for the 2020-21 season (unless state policy changes during the season). This will allow for fans and University students to be accommodated this season.
Should disruptions or modifications to the 2020-21 season occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Athletics will quickly communicate the adjustments through its social media channels and RaginCajuns.com. Additionally, the department will communicate any changes to specific entry and attendance protocols for home games.
