Ragin’ Cajuns have played three of their first four league games away from home

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana continues its challenging start to the 2019-20 league slate on Thursday morning when it journeys away from home once again to take on UTA at the College Park Center. Tipoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. on ESPN+.

Having already played three of their first four conference games away from home, the Ragin' Cajuns (10-5, 3-1 SBC) will play the next two games on the road before having the chance to play in the Cajundome again.

Despite the lack of time on its home court in recent weeks, the squad is 5-4 overall in road games and 2-1 in Sun Belt play, including a huge, 79-73, victory at Troy, the team's first win there since 2006. In those nine contests, Louisiana is averaging 67.3 points a game.

In the game against Troy, Ty'Reona Doucet paced four Ragin' Cajuns in double figures with 17 points to help pick up the pivotal win against the Trojans. Makayia Hallmon also played a key role in the contest, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to spark the run that ultimately sealed the victory.

Doucet now sits atop the stat sheet for Louisiana, averaging 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest, while Williams is right on her heels by averaging 12.5 points per game. In all, six different players are contributing at least 6.0 points a game.

UTA is one of six schools entering this week's action with a 3-1 record in league play and is currently 9-7 overall, including a 5-2 mark at home.

The Lady Mavs dropped their first league game of the year in their most recent outing, falling to top-ranked Coastal Carolina in Conway, 62-56. Marie Benson, Claire Chastain and Aysia Evans all scored 12 points to lead the Lady Mavs in scoring.

Benson has been the offensive catalyst for the Lady Mavs this season, averaging 17.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. Claire Chastain has also averaged double figures this year, producing 11.3 points per game.

Louisiana and UTA will be meeting for the 25th time dating back to 1979 when the two programs face off on Thursday morning in The Lonestar State. The Ragin' Cajuns leads the all-time series, 14-10, but is just 4-5 against UTA in Arlington. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, Louisiana is 5-8 against UTA.
