LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Tennis is set to host the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic starting on Friday, Sept. 27, and running through Sunday, Sept. 29. Louisiana has four athletes competing in the tournament.
Freshmen Ivailo Keremedchiev and Karlo Kajin will be the singles participants in the main draw, while senior Pearse Dolan and sophomore Kacper Dwoark will be pairing up for the doubles main draw.
Keremedchiev earned the fourth overall seed in the 16-person tournament and is squaring up against Adam Oscislawski from Rice in the first round beginning at 8:30 a.m. Keremedchiev is the first Ragin' Cajun in program history to be seeded in the tournament.
The freshman is coming off one of the more impressive fall tournament performances in recent memory, advancing to the main draw at the USTA Futures by winning three matches in the qualifying round and winning two matches before losing in the quarterfinals of the main draw.
Kajin is matched up with three-seed Pierre Luquet from South Florida. This will be the first time Ragin' Cajun fans will get a glimpse of the newcomer.
The duo of Dolan and Dwoark will compete against Lukas Engelhardt and Tim Sandkaulen in the main draw of doubles action on Friday starting at 5 p.m. Sandkaulen is preseason ranked as the 25th best singles player in the country.
