Keremedchiev Advances in Main Draw at USTA Event

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After clinching a spot to compete in the main draw on Tuesday, Ivailo Keremedchiev won his first match on Wednesday morning to advance to the second round of play at the USTA Futures event.
Keremedchiev drew Alex Blumenberg in the opening round of the main draw and beat him,7-6(4), 6-2. Blumenberg was ranked seventh overall in the main draw and is currently ranked 820 in the ATP.
"Evo showed good character today by taking his hits early in the match but refusing to go away," assistant coach Luc Godin exclaimed. "He stayed focused and kept competing for every point. He capitalized at the right moments and was able to grow his level in the second set to close the match."
Keremedchiev was one of six players to reach the main draw from the qualifying draw. After his win on Wednesday, the freshman will on Sherif Abohabaga in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
