Saturday’s contest marks the conclusion of preseason camp
HOUSTON – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball concludes preseason camp and gets its first test against outside competition on Saturday, Aug. 24 in an exhibition contest at Houston Baptist.

First serve from Sharp Gym on the HBU campus is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public. It's a great opportunity for Louisiana alumni to get a preview of the 2019 Ragin' Cajuns.

The outing brings to a close Louisiana's two-week preseason camp in preparation for the 2019 season – the 12th campaign under the guidance of head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot – which opens Friday-Saturday, Aug. 30-31 with the DoubleTree Classic at Earl K. Long Gym.

Louisiana and HBU meet in a preseason exhibition for the second straight season. In 2018, the Ragin' Cajuns claimed all five sets contested at Earl K. Long Gym.

The Ragin' Cajuns are led offensively by Preseason All-Sun Belt selection Hali Wisnoskie, who scored 21 kills in last week's Vermilion-White scrimmage. Dree'Ana Abram, who is coming off back-to-back seasons of 90-plus blocks, is the top returner on defense while junior Avery Breaux returns as one of the featured setters.

HBU finished 16-16 overall and 8-8 in the Southland Conference last season. The Huskies feature three Preseason All-Southland picks: Kelly Colwell, Megan Patillo and Mikayla Vivens.

LOOKING AHEAD
Louisiana officially begins the 2019 season by kicking off a season-opening, seven-match homestand Friday-Saturday, Aug. 30-31 with the DoubleTree Classic at Earl K. Long Gym.

The Ragin' Cajuns face Incarnate Word at 1:30 p.m. and UTEP at 6:30 p.m. on Opening Day (Aug. 30), then wrap up the weekend facing Tulane at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 31).
