Cajuns Open Competition At NCAA East Preliminary

Hughes slated to compete in men's 110-meter hurdles on Friday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dominique Williams recorded a mark of 183 feet, 8 inches in the men's hammer throw while Frankie Griffin finished in a tie for 28th place in the women's high jump to pace the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team during the opening day on Thursday at the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium.
Williams finished in 38th place for Louisiana, which had five of its eight entrants compete during the opening day of the three-day event. Teammate Richard Delphin finished 42nd overall in the men's hammer throw (180-0) for Louisiana with freshman Terroll Jolla finishing 46th overall (10.84) in the men's 100-meter dash.
Griffin cleared the bar at 5-7 to post the top overall finish for the Ragin' Cajuns with Claire Meyers finishing 39th in the women's javelin (139-0).
Tyler Hughes will see his first action in the men's 110-meter hurdles for Louisiana on Friday at 4 p.m., CT, with Damon Guidry competing in the men's high jump during the final day on Saturday at 3 p.m., CT.
