@RaginCajunsBSB produces double digit hits, runs and strikeouts in the same game for the second time this season

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Baseball put up 16 runs for the third time this season and outhit Georgia State, 17-5, while Brandon Young dazzled with six shutout innings on the mound to help the Ragin' Cajuns cruise past the Panthers, 16-6, and claim the series victory on Saturday evening at Russo Park.
 
For just the second time this year, Louisiana (24-28, 12-14) notched double-digit runs (16), hits (17) and strikeouts (12), the first coming on May 3 at Coastal Carolina when it produced 10 runs, 11 hits and 13 strikeouts.
 
The 10-run win also matched the largest margin of victory by the Ragin' Cajuns this season, the other coming in that same May 3 victory against the Chanticleers when they won 10-0.
 
Six different Ragin' Cajuns recorded multiple hits in the ballgame, with four having at least two RBI. Senior Hunter Kasuls went 3-for-4 on the evening, scoring two runs and driving in four after hitting a mammoth grand slam in the sixth inning. It was the first grand slam by a Ragin' Cajun since he hit one against Little Rock on May 23, 2018.
 
Junior Brennan Breaux went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate which included his third homer of the year, while Todd Lott and Hayden Cantrelle each finished the night with two hits and two RBI. Orynn Veillon added an RBI double, extending his hitting streak to 16 games.
 
Young (3-5) was up for the task on the mound, allowing just one earned run on one hit while fanning 10 in 6.0 innings of action. For Young, it was his second quality start of the season and his second-highest strikeout total on the year.
 
After trading solo home runs early in the contest, Louisiana posted a two-spot in the bottom of the second and the bottom of the fourth to push ahead, 5-1. Tremaine Spears extended that lead to 6-1 in the fifth, doubling to right center to score Daniel Lahare.
 
The game was blown open in the sixth inning, which started with four-straight hits that scored three runs. The inning was highlighted by Kasuls, who crushed a 2-0 pitch with the bases loaded over the right-field wall to push the lead out to 14-2.
 
After Louisiana scored two more times in the seventh, Georgia State (14-37, 5-21) pulled five runs back in the top of the eighth on three hits to cut the lead to 16-6. However, it was not enough as Michael Leaumont took the mound in the top of the ninth and sat down the Panthers in order to clinch the game.
