Louisiana is 2-2 against in-state competition this season
LAFAYETTE – Winners of two-straight and coming off a Sun Belt series win, the Louisiana baseball team continues its busy schedule when it hosts Northwestern State on Tuesday and travels to Tulane on Wednesday. Both games are set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

It was a busy weekend for the Ragin' Cajuns (9-11, 2-1), which saw history made in its three-game series at Little Rock with its hot bats. Hayden Cantrelle, who finished Week 5 11-for-21 at the plate with five RBI, hit three home runs in Saturday's game at Little Rock, making him the 10th player in school history to do so and the first since Michael Strentz hit three against ULM in 2014.

Louisiana finished that same game with six team home runs, its most since it blasted six on the road against Appalachian State on March 2, 2015.

Junior Todd Lott saw his bat come to life last week, notching six hits in 13 at bats, while Brennan Breaux and Hunter Kasuls went a combined 15-for-43 over the five-game stretch. Breaux continues to be a force for Louisiana offensively, leading the team in batting average (.320) and hits (24).

Freshman Blake Schultz will pitch for the Ragin' Cajuns on Tuesday. Schultz is 2-1 on the season with a 7.45 ERA in 9.2 innings of work. Wednesday's starter is listed as TBA.

Northwestern State (10-7, 3-3) is coming off a series victory at New Orleans with an 8-1 win on Sunday. NSU also has a 3-1 victory under its belt against Louisiana State. Caleb Ricca leads the way for the Demons offensively, boasting a .375 average (24-for-64) with a team-best three home runs and 15 RBI.

The Demons are set to start right-hander Cullen McDonald, who sits at 2-0 on the year and has a 0.87 ERA.

Tulane (13-7, 0-0) is also coming off a series victory, taking two-of-three from UC Riverside with the help of a 10-0 win on Sunday. In 19 starts, Kody Hoese is hitting .392 (31-for-79) and leads the team with nine home runs and 20 RBI.

The Green Wave have not yet named a pitcher for the Wednesday matchup.

Louisiana is 86-48 all-time against Northwestern State and 49-44 against Tulane. The Ragin' Cajuns have been successful against both programs as of late, winning the last 10 meetings over the Demons and six of the last 10 against the Green Wave.
