Veillon’s 12th-Inning, Walk-Off Homer Sends Louisiana Past Southern Miss, 6-5

Louisiana improved to 2-2 in extra-inning games with the victory
With the win, Louisiana (7-10) improves to 2-2 in extra-inning affairs and 3-2 in midweek games this season. The Ragin' Cajuns also produced double-digit hits for just the fourth-time this year with 10.
Veillon's winning hit was his fourth homer of the season, tied for the most on the team with Handsome Monica, and his only hit of the game. Fellow senior Daniel Lahare had a productive day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Brennan Breaux and Hayden Cantrelle each knocked two hits of their own.
Freshman Chance Stone earned his first win as a Ragin' Cajun, pitching 3.0 scoreless and hitless innings and striking out three batters. Southern Miss' (8-6) Jarod Wright took the loss.
The two teams traded runs in both the second and sixth innings before a Breaux single in the seventh frame scored Lahare to give Louisiana a 4-3 advantage.
That lead did not last long, though, as Southern Miss regained the lead with two runs in the eighth. However, Lahare answered the call in the bottom of that same inning and laid down a textbook bunt to score Hunter Kasuls and knot the game up at five all.
Both teams were silent until the bottom of the 12th inning when Veillon smashed an 0-2 pitch over the left-field wall to clinch the walk-off win, 6-5.
Louisiana opens Sun Belt play this weekend when it travels to Arkansas for a three-game series with Little Rock. Game times are set for 6 p.m., on Friday, 2 p.m., on Saturday and 1 p.m., on Sunday.
