LAFAYETTE – Wrapping up its busy weekend, with a Saturday afternoon 2 p.m. game, Louisiana Women's Basketball (6-14, 4-5 SBC) welcomes Coastal Carolina (10-9, 2-6 SBC) to the CAJUNDOME on Feb. 2 for third home game this week.

HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN/FOLLOW: Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (PxP) and Lawana Stokes (analyst) handling the call, and the link to find the game can be found by clicking here.  Steve Peloquin will handle the radio call, with the game being broadcast on ESPN 1420AM.  Live stats will be provided by Louisiana Athletics and they can be found by clicking here.

PREVIEWING THE GAME: The last time that Louisiana and Coastal Carolina met on the court, the Ragin' Cajuns won 59-55 on Jan. 6, 2018.  The game was memorable because it was head coach Garry Brodhead's 100th career win, making him the first women's basketball head coach at Louisiana to win 100 games and the seventh head coach in Louisiana basketball history to reach the century mark.

All-time Louisiana leads the series 2-1, and this will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two programs.  With Louisiana making the trip to Conway, S.C., on Feb. 28, this will be the first season in history that the two teams will meet twice in the same season.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Thanks to a big third quarter, where the Ragin' Cajuns outscored App State 24-6, Louisiana came away with an important Sun Belt Conference win, 73-55, to snap a three-game skid.  Besides the third quarter powering Louisiana to victory, Doucet also played a key role scoring 28 points and grabbing 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.  Freshman Brandi Williams added 16 points as well, while fellow freshman Diamond Morrison's 10 points rounded out a strong shooting night by Louisiana.

Capping off the strong third quarter by Louisiana, was Morrison's half court basket at the end of the period.  Pulling up from the Ragin' Cajuns pepper as time expired, Morrison banked in a long shot to put an exclamation point on the quarter.  Throughout the second half, Louisiana was strong defensively, allowing a season low 19 points in the half.
Louisiana was strong in the paint as well, scoring a conference play high 40 points in the paint as the Ragin' Cajuns controlled both the boards and paint on both sides of the ball.

DOUCET'S BIG NIGHT: Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet had a big night in Louisiana's 73-55 win over App State, finishing with 28 points, just one point off tying her career-high of 29 points, and grabbing 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.

WHAT A QUARTER: During the third quarter against App State, Louisiana outscored the Mountaineers 24-6, which was the biggest positive scoring margin in a quarter by Louisiana throughout the 2019 season.  The +18 margin is the best for Louisiana since Jan. 4, 2018 when the Ragin' Cajuns outscored App State 20-2 in the fourth quarter.

GOODWIN'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Goodwin recorded her first career double-double in Louisiana's loss to UT Arlington, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds.  The 10 rebounds are a season-high and ties a career-high that was set at Georgia Southern on Feb. 10, 2018.

HIGH FLYING FRESHMEN: Williams and fellow freshman guard Andrea Cournoyer have been scoring machines over nine conference games, each averaging double-figures in Sun Belt play.  With Williams averaging 14.1 ppg., and AC averaging 10.2 ppg., making them the top two scoring freshmen in Sun Belt Conference play.

WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Williams has been impressive through 20 games, Williams is averaging 12.1 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .414 percent from the field.  The 12.1 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the leading scorer among freshmen.

LOUISIANA FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN KEY: Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court over the Ragin' Cajuns' 20 games played so far.  Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 29.0 points per game total, which is just under half of the 61.2 points per game that Louisiana is averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .373 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .381.

DISHING GOODWIN: Goodwin has been moving the ball with efficiency during Louisiana's eight games of conference play, racking up 17 total assists in conference play and that gives her an average of 2.1 assists per game.  Goodwin opened conference play with a career-high six assists at Arkansas State on Jan. 3.

MATHIS ON LOCKDOWN: Over a three-game stretch from Jan. 24-29, sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis was a force stealing the basketball.  During the stretch she recorded seven steals averaging 2.3 steals per game, and in the final two games of the stretch she recorded three steals in each game which were first a career-high and then tied a career-high.

WHAT THE CHANTICLEERS BRING: Coastal enters the game against Louisiana having won its previous two games, the last coming at ULM (79-54) on Jan. 31.  Before winning its last two games, Coastal had lost six straight games, beginning Sun Belt Conference play 0-6, before picking up the first conference in against Arkansas State (88-72) on Jan. 26.

The Chanticleers have been scoring the basketball effectively throughout the season, and currently sit second in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 75.6 points per game.  Helping Coastal score near the top of the conference is the Chanticleers' solid field goal percentage, sitting third shooting .427 percent.

Leading the way for Coastal in scoring is DJ Williams, as she is averaging 17.1 points per game and sitting right behind her at 14.3 points per game is Caitlin Roche giving Coastal its two scorers in double figures.  Williams' 17.1 points per game slots her tied for second in the conference in scoring and she is first in the conference steals per game, averaging 2.4 spg.

Naheria Hamilton is the leading rebounder on the team, averaging 7.9 rebounds per game and she is just barely under averaging a double-double as she is averging 9.9 points per game.
