Ragin’ Cajuns return to the road after a perfect two-game home swing

LAFAYETTE – Winners of two-straight home games, Louisiana seeks its first road win of the season when it makes the quick drive to Lakefront Arena for a matchup with the New Orleans Privateers on Thursday evening.

Thursday's game will be the fourth-straight contest against opposition from the Southland Conference. In those games, Louisiana is currently 2-1 and has won the last two after defeating McNeese State (75-55) and Southeastern Louisiana (60-50).

Sophomore Brandi Williams has been pivotal in the team's early season success, giving the Ragin' Cajuns 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The sophomore has also been stellar at the free throw line with a 24-for-27 (88.9%) mark through four games.

Williams starred in Louisiana's last outing against Southeastern Louisiana, scoring 25 points and bringing in nine rebounds against the Lady Lions in a comeback victory. She also went 12-for-12 at the charity stripe, the first Ragin' Cajun to do so since 2016.

The other Ragin' Cajun to average double figures is junior Ty'Reona Doucet, who is averaging 11.5 points a contest and a team-leading 6.8 boards through four games.

New Orleans enters Thursday's game with a 2-2 record and is coming off one of its biggest wins in school history after it traveled to Oxford and defeated Ole Miss, 69-64, on Friday, Nov. 15.

In the game against the Rebels, Asia Woods led the way with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Rehema Franklin contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Vaquela Pimpton also notched double figures with 13 points.

Through four games, Franklin is the team's leading scorer, averaging 12.8 points a contest. Woods (11.0) and Mia Deck (10.0) are also contributing double-figure scoring. New Orleans is 1-0 at home this season, its lone win coming on Tuesday, Nov. 12 against Pensacola Christian (91-31).

Louisiana and New Orleans will be meeting for the 78th time when the two teams take the court in Lakefront Arena on Thursday, Nov. 21, with the Privateers leading the all-time series, 28-17. However, Louisiana has won the last six meetings since 2010.
