PREVIEWING THE GAME: Louisiana and UT Arlington last met in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championships, with Louisiana coming away with a 54-48 win.  This will be the first and only meeting between the two schools during the regular season, as Louisiana will not make the trip to Arlington this season.

All-time Louisiana leads the series 14-9 and the Ragin' Cajuns are 7-3 all-time in games played in Lafayette.  The lack of games between the two programs can be attributed to a gap from 1987 to 2014 where the two teams did not meet on the hardwood, with the series restarting when UT Arlington joined the Sun Belt.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Louisiana dropped its second straight game with a 90-64 loss at Troy on Jan. 26. During the game freshman guard Brandi Williams finished with 18 points and snagged four rebounds, finishing 5-for-5 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw line.  The 5-for-5 shooting performance was the best shooting performance by a Louisiana player with at least five attempts this season.

Sophomore guard Skyler Goodwin finished with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, for her best performance against a Sun Belt opponent so far this season.  While junior forward Kendall Bess added a career-high nine points and freshman guard Andrea Cournoyer added 10 points of her own to give Louisiana three scorers in double figures during the game.

For the second straight game, Louisiana scored a conference play-high 30 points in the paint and Louisiana added 24 points off of turnovers, the second-most they have scored in Sun Belt play this season.

HIGH FLYING FRESHMEN: Williams and Cournoyer have been scoring machines over the first month of conference play, each averaging double-figures in Sun Belt play.  With Williams averaging 14.1 ppg., and AC averaging 12.0 ppg., making them the top two scoring freshmen in Sun Belt Conference play.

NON-CONFERENCE DOUCET SPECIAL: Doucet was extremely consistent during the non-conference portion the season.  She averaged a double-double, scoring 14.8 points per game and she grabbed 11.2 rebounds per game.  Among the conference, Doucet was the only player who averaged a double-double during the non-conference season.

WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Williams has been impressive through Louisiana's first 18 games, scoring 11.8 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .400 percent from the field.  The 11.8 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the leading scorer among freshmen.

LOUISIANA FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN KEY: Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court over the Ragin' Cajuns' 18 games played so far.  Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 28.8 points per game total, which is just under half of the 60.6 points per game that Louisiana is averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .370 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .377.

DISHING GOODWIN: Goodwin has been moving the ball with efficiency during Louisiana's seven games of conference play, racking up 16 total assists in conference play and that gives her an average of 2.3 assists per game.  Goodwin opened conference play with a career-high six assists at Arkansas State on Jan. 3.

WHAT THE LADY MAVERICKS BRING: UT Arlington enters the game at Louisiana having won its previous two games, including a weekend sweep (Jan. 24-26) of Georgia Southern (81-48) and Georgia State (69-45) and the Lady Mavericks have won four out of their last five games. The Lady Mavs' 100--73 win over Arkansas State on Jan. 17, are the most points scored by a Sun Belt team in conference play so far this season.

With a scoring margin of +14.5, the Lady Mavs sit at the top of the conference and they are third in both scoring offense (74.7 ppg.) and scoring defense (60.2 ppg.)  While in the national rankings, UT Arlington sits in the Top-10 in three-point field goal percentage (seventh) and the Top-20 in field goal percentage (16th); assists per game (12th) and total assists (16th).

Cierra Johnson is the lone Lady Mav scoring in double figures, averaging 14.5 points per game and she is also leading the Lady Mavs in field goal percentage shooting .532 percent and three-point field goal percentage, where she is shooting .478.  Johnson ranks high in the Sun Belt and sits seventh in the conference in scoring and fourth in field goal percentage.

Katie Ferrell is leading UT Arlington in assists with a total of 86 assists, averaging 4.5 assists per game. Ferrell's 4.5 apg., puts her third in the conference and her team leading 2.4 steals per game places her second in the conference.
