@RaginCajunsMT Sweeps Alcorn State To Extend Winning Streak To Four

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Men's Tennis (4-1) opened up Cajun Courts with a dominating doubleheader sweep of Alcorn State (0-2), 6-1; 4-0, to extend its winning streak to four straight matches on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Pierce Gilheany, clinched Louisiana's first win of the day, and junior Jamie Fraser locked up the second match with his second win of the day to help Louisiana's solid performance. Sophomore Dominik Koenig, had himself a solid day as well, winning two matches on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED (FIRST MATCH): Louisiana got the day started with a sweep of the double point winning all three to grab the first point of the match. Junior Silvio Cocito-Monoc and Fraser opened up doubles competition by defeating Alcorn State's Kareem Bowe and Gjorgji Popovski by a score of 6-1.
Junior Elio Lago and Gilheany clinched the doubles point for Louisiana when they took down the Braves' pairing of Nuno Rocha and Ivan Matas, 6-2. A big statement was made by the Louisiana duo of senior Arthur Libaud and freshman Marko Vujic when they stormed back from a 3-4 deficit, to take down the Alcorn State duo of Jonatan Parat and Stojan Stojanovski to give Louisiana a clean sweep over doubles.
The clinching point came when Gilheany took down Ivan Matas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 to put the score at 4-0. Winning their matches in straight sets to, padding Louisiana's lead, were Vujic, who took down Popovski, 6-3, 7-5, and Libaud, who defeated Stojanovski, 6-3, 6-3, to give Louisiana the final points and their first win by a final score of 6-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SECOND MATCH): Louisiana won the doubles portion of the second match to grab the first point. Vujic and Libaud defeated Alcorn's team of Stojanovski and Parat by a score of 6-1. They were followed by Cocito-Monoc and Fraser who teamed up to take a commanding victory of 6-0 over Matas and Bowe.
Fraser finished off Louisiana's second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Popovski at No. 4 singles to lock up Louisiana's 4-0 win.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to Cajun Courts for its next set of matches, when on Monday, Jan. 21, Jackson State makes the trip to Lafayette for a doubleheader. The first match is set to start at noon with the second match to follow roughly 30 minutes afterwards.

Fraser finished off Louisiana's second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Popovski at No. 4 singles to lock up Louisiana's 4-0 win.
