LAFAYETTE – After getting its first Sun Belt Conference win, Louisiana Women's Basketball (3-11, 1-2 SBC) wraps up its home conference opening weekend when the Georgia Southern Eagles (5-9, 0-3 SBC) come to the CAJUNDOME for a Saturday afternoon matchup, with tip scheduled for 2 p.m.

HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN/FOLLOW: Saturday's game will be televised on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (play-by-play) and Lawana Stokes (analyst) handling the calling duties.  Steve Peloquin will handle the radio call, with the game being broadcast on ESPN 1420AM.  Live stats will be provided by the Louisiana Athletic Department and they can be found by clicking here.

BIDDY NIGHT: Louisiana Women's Basketball is hosting its annual Biddy Night on Saturday, and anyone who wears their Biddy League jersey can get a free ticket at the Louisiana Athletics Box Office when they arrive at the CAJUNDOME.  Following the game, anyone who wore their Biddy League jersey can join the Louisiana players and coaches on the court for a postgame clinic, which will start 15 minutes following the conclusion of the game.

PREVIEWING THE GAME: For the first time since Jan. 14, 2017, Georgia Southern will be making the trip to the CAJUNDOME, after the last three meetings between the two programs took place in either Statesboro, Ga., or in New Orleans, La., at the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championships.  The last time these two teams met, in New Orleans on Mar. 6, 2018, the game went three overtimes, before Louisiana came away with an 88-81 win in the First Round of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Championships.

All-time Louisiana leads the series 7-1 and have not lost a game to the Eagles at home in the three times the Ragin' Cajuns have hosted Georgia Southern.  A win by Louisiana would extend its winning streak over Georgia Southern to three games and push its home record against Georgia Southern to 4-0 all-time.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: Snapping a nine-game losing skid, Louisiana snagged its first conference win of the season taking down Georgia State, 57-54, at the CAJUNDOME on Thursday, Jan. 10.  Louisiana never trailed in the game, with Georgia State only tying the game for 1:10, with the Ragin' Cajuns controlling the game throughout.
Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet led the way with her fourth 20-point game of the season, finishing with 23 points and seven rebounds.  While sophomore guard Jomyra Mathis scored a career-high 14 points, 13 of which came in the second half, to power Louisiana to victory.

Defensively Louisiana was strong on the perimeter, holding Georgia State to 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 32 percent from the field overall.  While on the glass, the Ragin' Cajuns were strong outrebounding the Panthers 36-to-28.

The game was a three-point game with just under 11 seconds to go, but Louisiana's defense held off Georgia State as the Panthers' game-tying three-point shot clanked off the rim to wrap up Louisiana's win.

SNAPPING A SKID: Louisiana's win over Georgia State snapped a nine-game losing streak, which extended back to Louisiana's last win against Jackson State on Nov. 19.  It was the longest losing streak under head coach Garry Brodhead since his first season at the helm in 2012-13 when Louisiana dropped 11-straight games.

DOUCET AND MATHIS LEAD THE WAY: Mathis' 14 points, all off the bench, was a career-high for the sophomore guard and she was key to helping Louisiana keep pace on its lead during the heart of the game.  As for Doucet, she was a force all night long, controlling the paint and scoring at almost will, finishing with a game-high 23 points.

AC AND BRANDI LIGHT IT UP: Freshman guard Brandi Williams and Cournoyer each scored career highs at Arkansas State with Williams scoring 25 and Cournoyer adding 21 of her own.  It was the first time that Louisiana had two freshmen score at least 20 points in a game since Kia Wilridge and Keke Veal each scored 20 points against Florida Atlantic on Feb. 16, 2013.

WILLIAMS HAS IMPRESSED: Williams has been impressive through Louisiana's first 14 games, scoring 10.6 points per game, the second most on the team, while shooting .365 percent from the field.  The 10.6 ppg., rank Williams second on the team in scoring and when looking at the Sun Belt Conference, Williams is the leading scorer among freshmen.

AVERAGING A DOUCET SPECIAL: Doucet has been extremely consistent over the first two months of the season.  She is currently averaging a double-double, scoring 14.4 points per game and grabbing 10.3 rebounds per game.  Doucet's numbers, eighth in scoring and second in rebounding, means that she is the only player in the Sun Belt that is averaging a double-double through the season.

LOUISIANA FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN KEY: Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court over the Ragin' Cajuns' 14 games played so far.  Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 27.9 points per game total, which is just under half of the 61.1 points per game that Louisiana is averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .360 percent playing a key part the team shooting percentage of .383.

WHAT THE EAGLES BRING: Georgia Southern dropped its previous game at ULM on a buzzer beating layup, 58-57, on Jan. 10.  It was Georgia Southern's fourth-straight loss, and third-straight conference loss to start the conference season.

As a team Georgia Southern ranks in the lower middle of the pack in most categories in the conference, but they are first in the conference in free-throw percentage, shooting .716 percent from the line as a team.  They sit at 10th in the conference in scoring offense (60.6 ppg.) and ninth in scoring defense (70.1).

Individually the Eagles are led in scoring by Alexis Brown's 16.4 points per game, which also puts her in the top-5 in the conference in terms of scoring, coming in at fourth.  Amira Atwater, is second in the conference in assists per game, averaging 4.9 apg., having recorded a team high 68 assists through the season.

Atwater's 1.5 assist/turnover ratio ranks her fourth in the conference, with 68 assists to her 44 turnovers leading to that number.  Brown is also the leader in steals, having grabbed 32 throughout the game, giving her an average of 2.3 steals per game, which ranks her fourth in the conference.
