Key Rallies Lift Coastal Carolina to Win Over @RaginCajunsVB

9/28/2018 8:47:00 PM | Volleyball

Chanticleers able to alter the momentum at key points in final two sets

CONWAY, S.C. – Set-changing runs in the third and fourth frame led Coastal Carolina to a 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball on Friday at the HTC Center.

The Chanticleers ability to keep the Ragin' Cajuns (9-8, 1-2 Sun Belt) from consistently finding the floor, evidenced by a 91-66 edge in digs, was a key factor also.

Louisiana was able to gain traction on offense in the second set, landing 15 kills on a .243 percentage to score a 25-21 win and even the match. It was seven kills down the stretch which helped the Ragin' Cajuns break free from a 14-13 lead.

Coastal Carolina (2-7, 1-0 Sun Belt) generated an 11-1 run early in the third to capture the momentum and pull ahead 14-6. Louisiana stormed back, at one point scoring four straight points to cut the deficit to 17-15, and got a kill from Dree'Ana Abram to get in striking distance of forcing extra points.

Five kills were key to a fast start for the Ragin' Cajuns in the fourth set who were ahead 8-4 until the Chanticleers turned the tables with a 13-4 run that put the hosts in control the rest of the way.
