Louisiana travels to the Carolinas for the Coastal-App State road swing
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball travels to face Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State the weekend of Sept. 28-30, marking the squad's first Sun Belt Conference road matches of the season.
The Ragin' Cajuns (9-7, 1-1) begin the weekend on Friday in Conway, S.C., facing Coastal Carolina at 5:30 p.m. (CDT). The CCU campus, closed the past two weeks following Hurricane Florence, is reopening on Friday allowing the match to be played at the HTC Center.
The road trip ends on Sunday, in Boone, N.C., at Appalachian State's Holmes Center. The Ragin' Cajuns and Mountaineers match is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. (CDT).
Louisiana opened Sun Belt play last weekend splitting a pair of four-set matches, defeating UT Arlington and falling to Texas State.
The Ragin' Cajuns visit the CCU campus for the second time, the lone prior trip occurring in the Chanticleers first season as a Sun Belt member (2016).
Louisiana has won the last three matchups with App State dating back to the 2016 season. A year ago, the Ragin' Cajuns posted a sweep highlighted by a win in the SBC Tournament quarterfinals.

COACH MAZEITIS-FONTENOT'S THOUGHTS
Looking back on the opening weekend of Sun Belt play
"I thought Nia Antoine finally found her connection with her setter, Milayne Danna, which will help us tremendously down the road for sure. Both of our setters, Avery Breaux as well, had an outstanding weekend.
We out-blocked both teams that we played which is always something that we're very, very proud of. One of things we could have done better is offensive production, all the way around."
On overcoming recent slow starts
"Unfortunately, that's been kind of a trend this season. I was very excited to see us come back strong against both UTA and Texas State, because I had seen it before where we were able to bounce back.
It's just a certain rotation that we sometimes start in that we just struggle with, so we're going to avoid that rotation as much as possible from here on out."
UP NEXT
Louisiana returns to Earl K. Long Gym and meets Troy on Friday, Oct. 5 and South Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 6. The first serve of both matches is set for 6:30 p.m.
