@RaginCajunsMT Heads To Rice For The Texas Tamale Invite

LAFAYETTE – Starting on Friday, Sept. 28, and carrying through the weekend until Sunday, Sept. 30, Louisiana Men's Tennis will join 10 other schools on the campus of Rice University in Houston, Texas to take part in the Texas Tamale Invite.

START TIMES AND WATCHING LIVE: The weekend will start with doubles kicking off at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.  Followed by the beginning of the singles matches with the A and B draw first rounds scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and the C Draw should get going at 11:30 a.m.  The singles quarterfinals will be played later on in the afternoon with those scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

LOUISIANA SENDS A HANDFUL: Louisiana will send five members of the squad to the weekend tournament, with the five student-athletes being spread across three different singles draws and two doubles draws. 

Juniors Jamie Fraser and Silvio Cocito-Monoc, sophomores Pierce Gilheany and Dominik Koenig along with freshman Kacper Dworak make up Louisiana's representation in the weekend's tournament.  Fraser will be play through the A Draw, Gilheany and Dworak are in the B Draw and Koenig and Monoc will play in the C Draw.

In doubles Fraser and Gilheany will pair up and play in the A Draw while Dworak and Koenig will play doubles in the B Draw to give Louisiana several shots at top finishes in a packed weekend of tennis.

FULL DRAWS: Host Rice will welcome, including with Louisiana, 10 schools to the tournament.  The University of Texas; University of Denver; Texas Tech; the United State Military Academy at West Point; Nichols State; Texas A&M-Corpus Christi; Prairie View A&M; Incarnate Word; Tulane and UTSA make up a solid group of competition for the Ragin' Cajuns to face off with.

Three of the schools sending student-athletes to the tournament finished the 2018 fall season ranked nationally in the Top-40.  Texas (12), Tulane (28) and Texas Tech (36) all turned in solid 2018 seasons and return a large portion of who helped them finish ranked nationally.
