Five-set victory over San Diego State gives Louisiana a split on the final day of SoCal trip
SAN DIEGO – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball completed play in the SDSU/USD Challenge by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday, the latter a five-set victory over San Diego State which clinched a winning non-conference mark.
The Ragin' Cajuns (8-6), who rallied from an 18-16 deficit in the third set to remain ahead of the Aztecs in the match, scored the first three points of the decisive fifth frame, hit .438 and never trailed in completing the 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-7) triumph.
Hanna Rovira and Hali Wisnoskie combined for 37 kills in guiding Louisiana to its weekend-bests of a .276 hitting percentage and 61 kills against SDSU.
Earlier in the day, the Ragin' Cajuns were bested in three sets by No. 23 San Diego. The Toreros benefitted from a .319 match hitting percentage and lengthy scoring runs which locked up each set of the 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 sweep.
Rovira and Wisnoskie represented Louisiana on the all-tournament team. For Wisnoskie, it was her team-best third honor of the season.

The stay in San Diego ended with career-best performances from Rovira who had 19 kills and Wisnoskie who had 18 kills in the SDSU match.
Freshman Desiree Johnson reached double digits in kills for the first time, landing 10 off 26 swings against the Aztecs. She surpassed five kills for the eighth straight match, a streak which dates back to the Sept. 1 match vs. Houston.
Louisiana posted 10 blocks vs. SDSU, led by five apiece from Nia Antoine and Johnson. Sydney Davis' 20 digs marked the fourth time this season she's hit the mark.
Setters Avery Breaux (30 assists) and Milayne Danna (26 assists) both hit their season-high assists mark.
In the USD match, Johnson led the Ragin' Cajuns with seven kills and added three blocks and a pair of digs to her stat line. Rovira supplied six kills and with 11 digs joined Davis (13 digs) in scooping double figures.

Louisiana returns to historic Earl K. Long Gym for the start of Sun Belt Conference play the weekend of Sept. 21-23. The Ragin' Cajuns host UT Arlington on Friday at 6:30 p.m., then meet Texas State at Noon on Sunday.
