Women's 3-mile race set for 7:30 a.m.; men's 4-mile event at 8:10

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park.
 
The women's 3-mile race will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the men's 4-mile event slated for 8:10. Joining Louisiana and host LSU in the field includes McNeese, New Orleans, Nicholls, Southern, Southeastern Louisiana and Tulane.

Louisiana, which captured the men's team title at the 2016 event, opened its season on Aug. 31 at the McNeese Opener, earning a second-place finish in the men's 4-kilometer race. Freshmen Key Alfred and Hannes Burger each recorded top-10 finishes to pace the Ragin' Cajuns, which remained at No. 14 in the USTFCCCA South Central Region poll, with Jonathan Kimutai and George Femmer each finishing in the top 20.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns placed fifth overall in the women's 3K race with Teresa Bruning finishing 19th overall to lead the team.
