LAFAYETTE – Riding a three-match winning streak, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team (14-8) will look to continue their late season momentum as they welcome the Alcorn State Braves to Cajun Courts on Sunday, Mar. 25.
TRACKING THE MATCH: Live stats will be provided with the match starting at noon and updates will be posted on twitter (@RaginCajunsMT).
PARKING SITUATION: With the Cajuns baseball team taking on the Troy Trojans at Russo Park, starting at 1 p.m., in the final game of their weekend series, fans attending the match are instructed to park in general parking, located in the first lots to the right of the Gate Three entrance that sits on Congress Street.
LEADING THE SUN BELT: The 14-8 record held by the Cajuns is the best in the Sun Belt Conference in both wins and winning percentage, .636. The next closest team in wins is Georgia Southern (11) and in winning percentage both Appalachian State and South Alabama sit at .625.
ROLLING LAGO: Cajuns sophomore Elio Lago has been rolling over the past month, having won his last 10 matches in singles, and he hasn't dropped a singles match since Feb. 10 at Old Dominion. Lago's record in singles sits at 13-6, which leads the Cajuns in wins, and when factoring in his doubles record (6-6) Lago's combined record is 19-12.
VIVA LA LIBAUD: Shaking off a slow start to the spring season, junior Arthur Libaud has been coming on strong over the past three weeks, winning his last eight out of 10 matches, Libaud brings a four-match winning streak into the weekend. His success over the past several weeks has evened out his record in singles at 9-9 and when adding his 6-6 doubles record Libaud's combined record sits at 15-15.
THE DYNAMIC DUO: Sophomore Pearse Dolan and freshman Pierce Gilheany have been a force to be reckoned with in doubles. They're 10-1 together and they're won five straight, including nine out of their last 10 matches. Individually Dolan sits at 13-1 in doubles (12-4 in singles; 25-5 combined) and Gilheany sits at 10-2 (3-3 in singles; 13-5 combined) to give the Cajuns a powerful weapon in doubles.
WHAT THE BRAVES BRING: Alcorn State enters the match sitting at 4-11 on the season, having lost their last two matches. But that two-match losing streak is following a three-match winning streak the Braves put together at the SWAC Tournament.Â
          Â
Louisiana has never lost a match to the Braves, holding a 13-0 all-time record over Alcorn State, and the this will be the second straight season the two teams have met on the court. In 2016 the series took a one-year break, after having played each other for 10 seasons straight starting in 2006.Â
