Kramarov/Lago Beat No. 22 Doubles In Cajuns Loss At ODU

The duo of Vlad Kramarov and Elio Lago took down the No. 22 nationally ranked doubles pair in the Cajuns loss at Old Dominion.
NORFOLK, Va. – Senior Vlad Kramarov and sophomore Elio Lago came away with a big win in doubles, taking down the No. 22 pair in the nation, 6-3, but the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team lost the match against the Old Dominion Monarchs, 5-2, at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Kramarov and Lago's win was a big one for the program, as the Monarchs' pair of Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli had already knocked off the No. 15 duo in the country and it was only their second loss of the season, and first loss that didn't go to a tiebreaker showing how strong the Cajuns pair was against the Monarch's top duo.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): The other doubles win for the Cajuns came from the pairing of junior Arthur Libaud and sophomore Jamie Fraser, as they won against Weindl and Nicolussi, 7-5, to give the Cajuns the two wins they needed in doubles to take that point.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): In singles the Cajuns couldn't keep up with a strong returning Monarchs squad. But Kramarov locked up his eighth singles win of the season with a three-set win at No. 3, over Michael Weindl, 1-6, 6-3, 10-6, and with that win his record improved to 8-2 on the season. But that would be the only win the Cajuns got in singles and the final score against Old Dominion, who had finished the 2017 season ranked No. 48 in the nation and were the C-USA Conference Runners-Up, sat at 5-2.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to the court with a trip to VCU on Tuesday, Feb. 13 with the first serve in Richmond, Va., scheduled for 1 p.m. CST.
