LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball (2-7) returns to the CAJUNDOME for an exhibition tune up against Xavier (La.) (9-3) on Saturday, Dec. 15 with tip scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
HOW TO WATCH/LISTEN/FOLLOW: On television, the game will be covered on COX Sports TV with Dan McDonald (pxp) and Lawana Stokes (analyst) handling the call.  Steve Peloquin will handle the radio call, with the game being broadcast on 960AM.

HOLIDAY CHEER: Saturday's game is Holiday Hoops at the CAJUNDOME and besides the game being free to attend for any fans, fans who come are encouraged to wear their favorite Holiday Sweater.  Also, anyone who brings any toys can donate to Toys For Tots and during the game children can head up to the Lafayette Roofing Family Fan Zone and make their own ornament.

PREVIEWING THE GAME: This will be the second-straight season that Louisiana and Xavier (La.) will face off in an exhibition game at the CAJUNDOME.  Last season Louisiana wrapped up its exhibition season with a 59-50 win over Xavier on Nov. 4, 2017.  All-Time in non-exhibition matchups Louisiana is 4-2 against Xavier (La.) with the last win for Louisiana (74-55) coming in the last non-exhibition game meeting between to the two programs on Dec. 1, 2016.

REVIEWING THE PREVIOUS GAME: - Louisiana dropped its fifth-straight game when it fell to the Ole Miss Rebels, 79-57 on Dec. 12.  It was the first time Louisiana lost in Oxford, Miss., since 2007, having won in the previous visit to Oxford in 2015.  During the the second quarter Ole Miss outscored Louisiana, 25-5, which at the end of the game was the difference, with Louisiana losing by a deficit of 22 points.

Sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet led the team in both scoring (20 points) and rebounds (15).  With both of those numbers wrapping up as game-highs for either side and gave Doucet her seventh double-double of the season.

For the third-straight game, freshman guard Brandi Williams finished in double-digits dropping 14 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field.  She made her money during the game from beyond the arc, finishing 3-for-6 from three-point range.

Freshman guard Diamond Morrison had a career-high seven assists as Louisiana finished with a season-high 18 assists in the game.  While fellow freshman guard Andrea Cournoyer added 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting from the field.

DOUCET OWNS THE GLASS: Over Louisiana's first nine games, sophomore center Ty'Reona Doucet has been a force on the glass and the production has shown on the stat sheet.  So far, she has averaged 12.3 rebounds per game and grabbed 111 total boards and that puts her in nationally in the Top-10 in rebounding, with her 12.3 rpgs., putting her 10th in the country and her 111 rebounds are the ninth most grabbed by anyone so far this season.

FRESHMEN HAVE BEEN BUSY: So far this season, Louisiana's four freshmen have played key parts on the court.  Williams is second on the team in points per game, averaging 11.7 points per game, and freshman forward Jazmyn Womack is fifth on the team in rebounds per game averaging 3.1 rebounds per game.

When considering the team totals, Louisiana's freshmen have averaged 39.8 points per game total, which is roughly half of the 65.0 points per game that the Ragin' Cajuns are averaging as a team and the four freshmen are shooting .374 percent playing a key part in Louisiana's team total of .398 shooting percentage.

HAVE A STRETCH WILLIAMS: Williams has scored at least 10 points in four out of the last five games, going back Nov. 15 at Auburn.  She has finished with at least 10 points in the last three-straight games, scoring 14 points at Ole Miss (Dec. 12) to continue the streak.

She is second on the team in scoring averaging 11.7 points per game and during the stretch she scored 15 points at Auburn; 13 points at UT Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 1); 14 points vs. Sam Houston State and 14 at Ole Miss.

CALLING IN REINFORCEMENTS: During Louisiana's game against Sam Houston State (Dec. 8) both Daniels and Bess made their debuts in a Louisiana uniform.  Coming off the bench Daniels scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds in just 16 minutes of action, while Bess logged 11 minutes off the bench.

WHAT THE GOLD NUGGETS BRING: Xavier has won its last four games, taking down Mobile, 60-57, in its last game on Dec. 3.  The Gold Nuggets' last loss came on Nov. 21 at Florida Memorial (81-71) and two of Xavier's last four wins have come on the road.

Jas Hill and Kyla Duncan are each scoring in double-digits for the Gold Nuggets with Hill leading the way with 15.0 points per game and Duncan scoring 10.0 points per game.  Hill has scored in double-figures in a team-high eight games this season and she has two 20-point games.  Duncan has finished in double-figures six times this season, with one 20-point game.

Hill is leading the team in three-point attempts (43) shooting .326 percent from the beyond the arc, which is second on the team with at least 30 attempts (Essence Wells has shot .364 percent from beyond the arc [12-33]).  Maya Trench has been a ball mover for the Gold Nuggets, recording 49 assists over Xavier's 12 games averaging 4.1 assists per game to lead the team.

Duncan has been extremely conisitant shooting the ball through the first month and a half of the season, shooting .516 percent from the field (49-95) to lead the team.  Maikayla Bates, who leads the team in games started with 11, is the team leader in rebounds with 63 averaging 5.3 rebounds per game.
