Louisiana closes out weekend set at E.K. Long Gym on Saturday vs. South Alabama
LAFAYETTE – A defensive push late in the first set led to a momentum shift that Troy rode the rest of the night in a four-set victory (25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 25-22) over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball team on Friday at Earl K. Long Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Trojans (7-11, 1-4 Sun Belt) threw up six blocks during the stretch in which they erased a 17-11 deficit in the opening set. The last block provided the lead at 22-21 and it was followed by a Cheyenne Hayes kill which provided an all-important two-point edge.

Paced by a .371 hitting percentage Troy would lead from start to finish in laying claim to a 2-0 match lead.

The Ragin' Cajuns (9-10, 1-4 Sun Belt) applied their own defensive pressure in the third set, forcing the Trojans into 10 attack errors. Louisiana was able to force consecutive five Trojans miscues to break open a 19-18 edge and extend the match.

Troy scored seven kills during a 9-2 run which broke a tie early in the fourth set. Louisiana made a push and were on the verge of extra points after a Desiree Johnson and Dree'Ana Abram block followed by Hanna Rovira kill sliced the deficit to 24-22.

LEADING THE RAGIN' CAJUNS
Hali Wisnoskie matched her season-high total with 18 kills. The sophomore outside hitter's production came off just 33 swings and at a .485 clip.

Libero Sydney Davis scooped 20-plus digs for the third straight match, equaling her season-best effort and collecting 25 digs for the second straight contest.
Â
Setter Avery Breaux posted a double-double of 21 assists and 13 digs. The Ragin' Cajuns blocking efforts were led by Abram (5) and Johnson (4).

Louisiana is back on the court at Earl K. Long Gym on Saturday hosting South Alabama. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

It's Girl Scout Night with a patch being handed out to those who signed up on the local organization's web site. There will also be a poster competition for a chance to win four tickets to Paw Patrol (Oct. 26-28 at the Cajundome).

- Hali Wisnoskie scored double digits in kills a second straight match, following up the 16 kills produced Sunday at Appalachian State.
- Hali Wisnoskie reached double digits in kills for the 14th time in 19 outings this season and for the 32nd time overall in her career.
- Sydney Davis pushed her career digs total past 1,800 allowing her to join Nia Kiggundu (2,043) and Lindsay Brown (1,863) as the only players in program history to reach the milestone.
- Sydney Davis recorded her 93rd career match of double-digit digs. She increased her career digs total to 1,810 which moves her within 54 digs of surpassing Lindsay Brown's rally scoring era record total (1,863).
- With five blocks in the match, Dree'Ana Abram reached the 200-mark in her career. Abram now owns 201 career blocks through 69 matches competed in.
- Freshman Desiree Johnson reached (or surpassed) the five-kill mark for the 16th consecutive match (streak dates back to Aug. 31 vs. Mississippi Valley).
- Avery Breaux posted her fourth double-double in the past six outings (since San Diego State match). During the streak, Breaux is averaging 5.08 assists and 2.19 digs per set.
